French ros\u00e9 wines for summer<\/span><\/h2>\n

Ros\u00e9 wines<\/strong> are often the first wines we think of when the warmer weather arrives. Ros\u00e9 wines are produced in all the wine-growing regions of France<\/strong>, and have very different profiles<\/strong>, brought about by the terroir<\/strong> and grape varieties<\/strong> used.<\/span><\/p>\n

Provence ros\u00e9 wines<\/span><\/h2>\n

Provence<\/strong> is France’s leading ros\u00e9 wine-producing region<\/strong>. Its climate<\/strong> and terroir<\/strong> make it possible to produce top-quality ros\u00e9s<\/strong> from perfectly adapted grape varieties. Provence ros\u00e9s<\/strong> have a fleshy<\/strong>, full-bodied profile<\/strong> thanks to the region’s abundant sunshine<\/strong>. The use of Grenache<\/strong> in Provence ros\u00e9 blends<\/strong> also adds volume<\/strong> and fullness<\/strong> to the wines. With colors ranging from peach<\/strong>, melon<\/strong>, mango<\/strong>, pomelo<\/strong> and tangerine<\/strong> to redcurrant<\/strong>, Provence ros\u00e9s can accompany a multitude of dishes<\/strong>, especially Mediterranean<\/strong>. Well-known appellations include C\u00f4tes de Provence<\/strong>, Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence<\/strong> and Coteaux Varois en Provence<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Loire ros\u00e9 wines<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Loire vineyards<\/strong> are also well known for the quality of their ros\u00e9 wines<\/strong>. There are two types of ros\u00e9: dry<\/strong>, the most common, and those containing residual sugar<\/strong>. Such is the case with ros\u00e9 d’Anjou<\/strong>, a sweet<\/strong>, gourmet wine<\/strong>, or Cabernet d’Anjou<\/strong> (very sweet wine).<\/span><\/p>\n

Dry ros\u00e9 wines<\/strong> are the most refreshing<\/strong>, and therefore the most enjoyable in summer, with their red fruit aromas<\/strong> reminiscent of strawberry<\/strong>, raspberry<\/strong> and redcurrant<\/strong>. Thanks to their lively attack<\/strong> and superb freshness<\/strong>, Loire ros\u00e9 wines can be enjoyed as aperitifs or on their own.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Ros\u00e9 wines from Corsica<\/span><\/h2>\n

While Provence<\/strong> and Loire<\/strong> Valley<\/strong> are renowned for the quality of their ros\u00e9 wines<\/strong>, other regions such as Corsica<\/strong> and Bordeaux<\/strong> also produce highly appreciated ros\u00e9 wines<\/strong>. Thanks to its mountainous, Mediterranean climate<\/strong>, Corsica enjoys an exceptional terroir<\/strong> for the production of its wines. Corsican ros\u00e9 blends<\/strong> include Mediterranean varieties<\/strong> such as Vermentino<\/strong>, Grenache<\/strong> and Cinsault<\/strong>, as well as indigenous varieties<\/strong> such as Nielluccio<\/strong> and Sciaccarello<\/strong>.\u00a0 The ros\u00e9s have a lovely taste personality<\/strong>, just like the Corsican vineyards<\/strong>!<\/span><\/p>\n

Bordeaux ros\u00e9 wines<\/span><\/h2>\n

Although ros\u00e9 wines<\/strong> represent only 4% of Bordeaux’s total production, they’re still a must-try! In fact, during a recent tasting at a Parisian wine shop, a selection of ros\u00e9 wines from Bordeaux<\/strong> was better appreciated than ros\u00e9 wines from Provence<\/strong>! For prices that are often much lower, it’s well worth taking an interest in ros\u00e9 wines from the Bordeaux vineyards<\/strong>!<\/span><\/p>\n

For a Bordeaux ros\u00e9<\/strong> that’s almost red, try Bordeaux Clairet<\/strong>!<\/span><\/p>\n

Ros\u00e9 wine and food pairing<\/span><\/h2>\n

Regardless of the region you choose for your ros\u00e9 wine<\/strong>, ros\u00e9 wine goes perfectly with summer dishes<\/strong>. As an aperitif<\/strong>, you’ll appreciate a dry<\/strong>, fruity ros\u00e9<\/strong> to accompany fruits<\/strong>, raw vegetables<\/strong>\u00a0 and aperitif cakes<\/strong>. Why not a ros\u00e9 from the Loire valley<\/strong> ?<\/span><\/p>\n

With grilled white meats<\/strong>, fish<\/strong> or prawns<\/strong>, enjoy a more structured wine<\/strong>, such as a ros\u00e9 from Provence<\/strong>, which is fuller-bodied wine<\/strong> , thanks to the region’s very sunny weather<\/strong>. Dishes based on Mediterranean vegetables<\/strong>, also known as sun vegetables<\/strong>, are just as perfect with these ros\u00e9 wines<\/strong>, which are sometimes reminiscent of the aromas of Provence herbs<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
